Passionate about leadership and entrepreneurship in the life sciences

Dr. Justin Black joined Satellite Bio in January 2022 as Senior Director of Program Management and Operations, with responsibility for managing cross-functional teams to execute on corporate strategic priorities and advancement of pipeline development programs.

Prior to Satellite, Black was at Sigilon Therapeutics, where he led Portfolio and Program Management and Business Operations. He was directly responsible for managing a $450M partnership with Eli Lilly leveraging the Shielded Living Therapeutics platform to develop a cell therapy for type 1 diabetes. During Black’s tenure, Sigilon achieved multiple corporate and product development milestones, including raising $225M through private and public fundraising, advancing its first-in-class technology into pre-clinical development and cGMP manufacturing and receiving clinical study authorization across multiple therapeutic indications.

Black earned his BS in Molecular Biology from Brigham Young University and PhD in Biochemistry from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where he discovered his passion for leadership and entrepreneurship in the life sciences. During his PhD, he was selected as a Leadership Development Scholar and co-founded Reveris Therapeutics, a pharmaceutical startup.
